Sync with iTunes. It is recommended to restore and update.

You need to do a backup with iTunes (latest version or at least 10.5.1) then after an update do a restore from the backup If you need to preserve the baseband for unlocking then use a custom firmware ware but not doing an official upgrade

Hey guys, I'm new to really having such troubles with jailbreaking.
I previously found a itouch 4g and with a little trouble, I managed to get it tethered jailbroken on ios 5. I finally saw that there was an untethered jailbreak for ios 5.01 so I went and tried to restore it to the new firmware. Since then I've had so much trouble which led to altering of the hosts file, downgrading to itunes 10.4.1, and numerous errors that I've tried to resolve with ireb and tiny umbrella and the works. At this point all I want is to restore it to ios 5.01 and maybe try to jailbreak it from there.
At this point the latest firmware for itunes 10.4.1 is ios 4.3.5 which I'm attempting to restore it to now. Assuming it doesn't work, what should I do at this point? Please ask away any questions you may have to help me solve this hair loss inducing problem.
Thanks, and sorry for the essay.
I posted this in another thread but it was an iphone 4 thread, so I felt it might be more appropriate in this thread. Let me know if that's against the rules or something like that.Last edited by ktothev; 12-31-2011 at 01:18 PM.
