Default iPhone 4 4.2.1 to iOS 5? worth it

I have an iPhone 4 on 4.2.1 with bb 3.10.01 how easy is it to upgrade to IOS 5 and is it worth it yet?

I ask cos I got my daughter an iPhone 4 that came on IOS 5 and it looks quite nice with the pop up notifications etc. plus the messenging app, but I don't want to mess up my current BB or jailbreak. I don't mind it being tethered and have had iPhones since version 1 so not too bad at understanding it all, but I'm a bit lost on wether it's safe to do so yet.
I have a mac and presume I use redsnow 9.9b8 to make custom 5.01 ?

appreciate any advice I'm lost with all my google searches now..

PS oh I have saved my ssh's with Tiny Umbrella..

Well buddy let me tell u. That's where I was and it was a nightmare and fully regretful decision to go from 4.2.1 to 5.0. Most of my backed up Cydia tweaks were not compatible and constantly rendered my iPhone In safe mode making me go crazy each time I had to figure out what was crashing the whole thing. Not to mention I'm still tethered and it's not fun having to have a pc or Mac with redsn0w ready around everytime I needed to reboot the darn thing. Forsome reason the jailbreak for 5.0 took us all by surprise as none of devs had their apps 5.0 ready a d took quite a bit of time to release updates. I guess if u tried now it wouldn't be as crazy seeming that many apps have been updated
(still a lot to go) and if anything in my opinion, If I were you, I'd wait Til 5.0 untethered jailbreak is released (any time now) and stay put. Just sharing what it was like for me. Hope this helps... :-)

I was on 4.3.3 and upgraded to 5.0.1, after I saved my shsh with iFaith, and it was ok for a while. I loved using "siri0us" for dictation and iMessages. The tethered part was the downside but you can get "semi-tether" from source "thebigboss.org/semitether" to fix this problem. I noticed I had more space on my iphone and it was faster.

I also had problems with some tweaks not working and causing my iphone to go into safemode constantly before I found the culprit. I had to uninstall sbsettings and uninstall mobile substrate to fix the problem.

So be warned you will have some advantages and most disadvantages this.
