So my wife's iPhone 4 on iOS 5.0 powered off after being jailbroken, so of course I went to the MacBook to 'just boot tethered'. She likes her bitesms and it wouldn't work with the semi tethered reboot of course. Before i could get it plugged in, powered off and in DFU mode it rebooted itself. Then it continued to reboot over and over and would not let me power it off, therefore I couldn't get into DFU mode so I couldn't reboot tethered. It wasn't recognized in iTunes either.
What in the world caused this? To get the phone to work again I actually disconnected the battery to get it to turn off and went into DFU from there. By the way, the phone will come on with USB power only, but redsnow didnt work without the battery.
This isn't a very handy solution so Im considering unjailbreaking until (if) an untethered jailbreak is available. Any comments are very welcome! Thanks
