iPhone 4 "May be damaged"?
What's up everyone?
So, I'm a longtime jailbreaker, and this is something I've never encountered. I've been rocking iOS 5.0 for sometime now, and I tried installing an app via .deb and iFile, but it didn't work after a respring, so, I thought to myself, "Hey, I'll just try a reboot and see if it takes effect." Obviously, I had to reboot via redsn0w since all we've got is tethered. Here's where the feces hit the oscillating turbine device. I go into the latest version of redsn0w and tell it to "just boot" as per usual. DFU, blah blah blah, great. For some reason, while the pineapple logo of redsn0w is on my device, it just all of a sudden changes to the apple logo, which then does some cool boot animation, and then I'm looking at my lockscreen, with jailbreak tweaks engaged, and it says "Activation required." So I plug it in and it wants a restore. I decide, "What the Hell? I've gone through all this, might as well update to iOS 5.0.1." So I download and engage in a full restore, which then lands me with this message from iTunes that basically read: "Your iPhone is may be damaged. Take it to an Apple Store." I'm pretty sure my phone smells like pineapple from all the jailbreaking I've done to it, so that's probably out of the question. Here's the weirdest part yet. I can get the phone to actually let me access apps and the homescreen and stuff, but I have no service. The phone itself is running iOS 5.0.1 and is indeed jailbroken. I'm really bothered by all this, so I'm downgrading to 4.3.5 while I'm still sane just so I can have my phone and text back, but I'd like to know how I can fix this. Any help is appreciated. I've already tried tinyumbrella's numerous options and just tried resetting network settings. I'm on AT&T and have never messed with my baseband or anything because I never needed to unlock or any business like that. Please let me know what you think and what I might try.
Cheers.
Jacob

If you have 4.xx blob, you can downgrade using custom firmware and using tss server to verify your restore.
If you don't have any blob, restore to 5.0.1 again and use an official sim to activate it. See if you are still having problem without the jailbreak.

Alright, those are some fantastic ideas. I have yet to try using a custom firmware. Does anyone know where I can acquire 4.3.3? Or a program that makes a custom fw out of 4.3.5? I'm going to attempt to build one from 5.0, since it's supported by redsn0w and it's what I have. I'll definitely post back what happens. Right now, I've got it to activate without service at all firmwares, but with no service. I've got it in 5.0.1 recovery mode right now, but I'm back to where iTunes tells me "phone may be damaged." I do have an apple store appt. tomorrow, so last chance!

Before you do anything , I suggest you restore to 5.0.1 and see if your iphone is working before downgrading . Btw don't bother with 5.0 , you cannot restore to it anyway.

Already have sir. Same deal. I get the "Select your language, country, and location services" business. So I do, and then it just tells me to connect to iTunes, which yields the "May be damaged" business. I'm downloading 4.3.3 now so i can try a Pwned DFU, custom FW restore and tinyumbrella tss it all together, but since I stayed up until 3:30AM trying all sorts of methods, I'm not going to again. It'll be my last ditch effort before I go to Apple.
