Unhappy Iphone 4 4.3.5 BB 4.10.01 upgrade to ios 5 - device not eligible for registered device!

Hi! I tried the search function but doesn't work for me at the moment.

I try to upgrade my iphone 4 4.3.5 BB 4.10.1 to iOS5 but having created the custom firmware with redsnow and wanting to restore it in iTunes it always tells me "The iPhone could not be restored . This device isn’t eligible for the requested build.“ It's getting me crazy..I tried to reboot, recustom, reboot the iphone...nothing helps..
I tried to change the host file..there is no url in it I could change.. and with that How to fix: This device isn?t eligible for the requested build : the last place on the net and the page opens with the "page not found"so it should work right? I don't wanna jailbreak just preserve the baseband to upgrade to ios5 and use my Gevey sim.
Is this the right firmware I have to use with redsnow: iphone3,1_5.0_9A334_Restore.ipsw?? or is there another one to use if I don't want to jailbreak??
Anyone could help me with that?
    Thank you!!

You cannot restore to 5.0 anymore. Only 5.0.1 now.

Use latest snowbreeze to make a custom 5.0.1.

Is the second one supposed to read 5.0.1?

Yup, that one. But dont restore directly to that. Make a custom 5.0.1 with it using snowbreeeze and restore to that in itunes.

You could use parallels or something like that to run windows and make one. Or try to google for a download link of one (we cannot provide them here sorry).

by using a custom 5.0.1 ipsw what does that allow? other than preserving the baseband. I thought it wasn't safe to upgrade to 5.0.1 because it may take longer to get a untethered jb.

Just preserves your baseband. Although since you are on 4.3.5 (tethered jailbreak too) you don't really have anything to lose, unless of course the untethered jailbreak for 5.0 works on 4.3.5.
