Hopefully not long at all. The jailbreak is out but in beta right now for someone who knows how to modify the linux kernel and tweak it just right. Its just a matter of time before someone figures it out and releases it to the general public. I would say within a month they should have it up and going. Lately the more recent ones haven't taken long at all before they were released.

Do you think they will bother? iOS5 is right around the corner.

As has been stated before this JB is tethered and for kernel hackers.

    Official Statement from Dev-Team Blog:
Update #3: For the convenience of kernel hackers like @comex and @i0n1c, we have a new redsn0w 0.9.8b3 that supports a TETHERED jailbreak for iOS 4.3.4 on all devices that have 4.3.4 except the iPad2. The vast majority of people will want to stay back at 4.3.3 because that’s where the untethered jailbreak is! There are no new features in 4.3.4 — only fixes for jailbreak exploits.

I'm really inclined to say that 4.3.4 might not be worth releasing a new jb over. The devs might just wait for iOS 5. But then theyve surprised me before by doing the otherwise

But when? No idea, that's usually not foreseeable.

I was forced into a 4.3.4 update so I hope it's not long. NEVER count on cydia to store your SHSH btw although mine said it was saved there obviously they weren't and here I am without a jailbroke iphone...

    Sorry to hear that
Its always best to have backups of your shsh and not rely on just one source. I have backups from ishsh, tiny umbrella, and cydia just to be sure that in case I wanna downgrade I have them backed up somewhere to do so.

The 4.3.4 fw in question can be jailbroken but as I have stated before it is tethered and probably not fully functional. It seems the devs are pushing forward with testing out ios 5 and so no telling if an actual finished jb will ever come to 4.3.4 but who knows.

Yes he has. There is a seperate thread where iYeow and myself tried to help him retrieve shsh blobs and it kept coming up empty so there was nothing to do but upgrade to 4.3.4.
