section;Trying to jb 3g on 4.1 with redsn0w. Have downloaded iPhone3,1_4.1_8B117_Restore.ipsw but when I point redsn0w to it it won't recognise it. Any ideas? Any trusted download sources please?

The file name you have given is for the iPhone 4 you the file for 3G which is iPhone1,2_4.1_8B117_Restore.ipsw which is why redsn0w is not recognising it
i will pm you a link which is a zip file so open it and the ipsw will be there
