The problem with this Iphone is that it is now stuck in recovery mode loop.
Here is the details.
Did a complete factory restore using itunes to 4.2.1
Went to work and downloaded redsn0w and IPSW from apple to jailbreak.
Started jailbreaking. However when it asked me whether you had an old boot rom or new one - I selected new one.
I also installed the IPAD baseband.
The phone was then tethered booted and the pineapple will show up for 10 seconds and then back to the recovery mode apple logo.
Later, I realised I have an older boot rom after doing the jailbreak. If I try and go back , I get the identification error.
Any help on how to get out ?
Things I have tried
Recboot to kick it out of recovery. - No luck
Irecovery - No luck
Tinyumbrella - start TSS server - tried to restore via Itunes and on error 1015 , kick it out of recovery - No luck.
Any help is appreaciated...

You need to restore to custom firmware of 4.2.1. Use redsn0w , browse to stock 4.2.1 and just check put iphone into dfu mode.
Once dfu mode , run itunes and shift + restore to custom firmware of 4.2.1
Run redsn0w again to install Cydia.
Google search for a custom firmware of 4.2.1

I downloaded a custom firmware and then ran redsn0w again and it worked! I'm able to use the phone now but I still have a problem. If the phone has to reboot or if i shut it off it goes right back into DFU mode (black screen) and I cannot get the phone to turn back on unless I run redsn0w and choose just boot tethered. Is there a way that i can still turn the phone on and reboot the phone without plugging it in every time? I understand this is a tethered jailbreak and that it needs to be tethered for the jailbreak stuff to work but shouldn't the phone still turn on like normal and just not have the jailbreak stuff work? Thanks for the help!
