Jailbroke 3GS with redsn0w 0.9.7b6 - What's wrong with Cydia?

Old bootrom 3GS on 4.2.1 jailbroken with redsn0w 0.9.7b6 on Mac
The Cydia icon appears blank and it won't launch.

Any ideas what could be wrong, and how to fix it?

Are you sure you have old bootrom? Also why are you using the beta redsnow?

Yes, I'm 100% sure that it has the old bootrom, and I'm using the redsn0w beta because it can jailbreak 4.2.1.

redsnow 0.9.6rc8 can jailbreak 4.2.1. That is the latest version that isnt in beta.

Run Redsn0w again and select boot tethered option. Cydia should then work.

i'm also on the old bootrom, used redsn0w 0.9.7b6, and got the same blank cydia issue. i can fix it if i do a tethered boot option from redsn0w, but it'll require me to do tethered boot always. because i'm on the old bootrom i'm thinking i shouldn't have to do tethered boot al the time. any thoughts?

Are yuo sure you are old bootrom? You should use idetector to make sure.

yeap sure on the old bootrom. the problem might have been with redsn0w redsn0w 0.9.7b6. now trying 0.9.6rc8, and keeping my fingers crossed.

Make sure you say no to the new model question.

yeap its working now. the whole issue had to do with the beta version of redsn0w. i used the latest full release version and it worked like a dream.

I Had the same problem so i ran the released Greenpois0n over the top of of it and now the cydia app has an icon and runs fine
