First time Redsn0w - help needed.

I'm about to JB my old 3G running iOS 4.1 and found that Redsn0w 0.9.6b6 should do the job. I have tried Limera1n on my 3GS which was pretty easy to use, but the guide for Redsn0w confuse me pretty much. I found this guide.

Do I need to install SAM - not exactly sure if I need it.

I have been looking for a step-by-step guide, just for JB an old 3G, but can't find one.

Yes , you can jailbreak it with Redsn0w, since you are with official carrier, you do not need SAM. Just install Cydia.

I just have to select Cydia and install - What about the ipsw file ? Do I have to select one ?

This is the first time I used redsn0w. But I use 4.2.1 fw iphone 4 should not know whether I should use this form to JB or not?tu bep, tu bep dep, tu van kien truc. or wait a while longer to have a more stable tool

Doesnt really matter the only thing is you will be tethered

Oke I have downloaded it and saved it on my desktop. Now when I run Redsn0w I have to brouwse, then I do not see the the IPSW file, because I only can choose for ( Apple firmware files (*.ipsw) ), sorry I'm not a hero with such stuff..

Find the fw you just downloaded and make sure it is named ipsw and place it on your desktop

Okay i am going to try to make this easier on you download firefox web browser form the interenet once you get firefox go back to the firmware link i gave you and download it again. This time it should download as the correct file type place it on your desktop then when you browse for it you will see it there.
