redsn0w 0.9.6b4 firmware 4.2.1 Iphone 3g, stuck on "Uploading RamDisk"
After about 10 minutes of this, the phone shuts off. The same thing happened with the previous version, so I had to update earlier today, hence doing this. I am running win. 7 ult. (not genuine), but I was able to JB 4.1 with sn0wbreeze before this whole mess started
I am pretty annoyed, and I am about to take it to someone who offers JB services in my area. Any help would be immensely appreciated.

I believe I have exactly the same problem
Just upgraded to 4.2.1 on my iphone 3G to jb but when it reaches to "downloading jb data" the program crashes on the computer. I'm on XP sp3 using the newest redsn0w 0.9.6b4.
What can I do?
Here is a picture of what I get:

You may need a certain version of .net framework. Not sure though, just guessing. Your best bet may be to try it on another computer.

Not sure. Like I said I havent used xp in a few years now so unsure what needs to be installed for redsn0w to work properly. Are you on 32bit or 64bit windows xp?

When you open Redsn0w open your task manager, right click on the redsn0w process and click on set affinity. Uncheck CPU 0 and then proceed with running redsn0w. Should work like a charm!

I did a right click > Troubleshoot compatibility and it told me to start it in XP SP2, so I did, and it worked completely.

Okay. i've done various combinations of the following
Unchecked CPU 0 on check affinity
Run as Admin
Ended AppleMobileDeviceManager process (this was fun, when the phone turns off, it pops up in the task manager, when it turns on, it pops up again)
Run compatibility in XP
and it still crashes when i get to the installing ramdisk screen (luckily since no processes start, i'm able to just turn off the phone and turn it back on)
i'm running Vista 32x, and an iPhone 3G. i never realized how much i dislike this phone in a non jailbroken state.Last edited by tw1zt3d; 11-27-2010 at 10:59 AM.
