Default iphone 3gs 3.1.2 recovery mode loop.
Hey guys.. i just purchased a used iphone 3gs running firmware 3.1.2 .. i used redsn0w to jailbreak it and then unlocked it through cydia...

everytime i reboot my phone, it is in recovery mode, and i need to run redsn0w to kick it back out... I have been searching for the last week or so for a solution... is there a fix that will eliminate the recovery mode during boot?

I have tried using libusb and Irecovery, but that did not work..

I am using it with T-mobile, but I have the original sim for activation..

is there a safe method of fixing this recovery mode loop?

    edit:

I just read about spirit jail breaker, but how do i remove redsn0w/blackra1n and restore a brand new copy of 3.1.2 if apple is not signing it? I do not believe I did any firmware saving or backing up. I do remember pressing "make my life easier" on cydia, but im not sure what that does...

I didn't know Redsn0w can jailbreak a 3.1.2 , I thought it is only meant for 3G and redsn0w is only used to boot out of recovery. Now you have to go with this method > Read this

You can if you want or you can still upgrade to edited version of 3.1.3 and then unlock with Blacksn0w. You see the Yahoo on my profile, click to chat with me

You can't switch to untethered without restoring.

    Hello Guys,

Well, the problem I am facing is similar..
I have an iPhone 3gs, earlier was on 3.1.2, factory unlocked!
    Had Blackra1n ed it..
it was then on a tethered jailbreak..used to go to recovery mode..

Before removing the Blackra1n i used spirit.

Now it is in the recovery loop..and is not getting out of it.

Is there any other way or is the Alternative method (Given by Dev team) the ultimate solution? Please help..

Also from where should I obtain the IPSW file in case i am to follow the Alternative method?
If i restore using the stock IPSW file my baseband will be upgraded but do i need to worry since mine is a factory unlocked phone?

    Thanks in advance.

PS : I havent stored / backed up my iPhone. I am unaware of the ECID and shsh blob concept.

If the phone is factory unlocked you can just restore to 3.1.3 and jailbreak with Spirit. No need to mess around with the firmware first.

If it's factory unlocked, you can't lose it. The other method is not safer, quite the contrary, because in that case, you can mess up the firmware file.

Just click 'restore' in iTunes. That'll upgrade you to the latest official firmware.
