[HELP]redsn0w "Unable to recognize specified IPSW."

Hi, I just restored(not update) my 1st gen 4gig iPhone to 3.1.3(.ipsw downloaded through iTunes).

When I browse to the 3.1.3 FW (c: \Documents and Settings\user name\Application Data\Apple Computer\iTunes\iPhone Software Update\iPhone1,1_3.1.3_7E18_Restore.ipsw) redsn0w 0.9.4 doesn't recognize the file. its the official .ipsw from apple..

I've tried other .ipsw's downloaded from other places(modmyi being one of them) and it doesn't recognize any of them.

I can use "Spirit" to jailbreak but I need to use redsn0w so I can use "openiboot".

Never mind haha I figured it out. I just had to use the 3.1.2 FW even though my phone is running 3.1.3. haha... weird o.O oh well..

Point redsn0w at 3.1.2 ipsw inatead of the 3.1.3 and you should be good to go

will it be the same if trying to jailbreak ios4 on windows? would i have to point it to 3.1.3

The current redsnow beta only works on 3G.

Depending on your bootrom though, you could use pwnagetool.

I tried multiple 3.1.3 and 3.1.2 firmwares and redsn0w is still unable to to recognize the .ipsw! If anyone has any other suggestions, I would greatly appreciate it as I've been trying to jailbreak all day. Thanks!

Try the latest Redsnow version.
