Yes, that is correct. It no longer shows the network name. It does state that in the instructions on the first post. No big deal though.

Someone Please Help
Hi guys I recently bought an iphone 3GS which was already 3.0.1 jailbroken and unlocked and it would work with any sim card.
I am new to all this and I have never modded an iphone before.
I followed every step mentioned in this guide and the phone also restarted as mentioned in step9 after installing the custom firmware but after it switched on it was still showing that itunes logo with the usb wallpaper in the background and there was a notification which stated NO SIM CARD INSTALLED...INSERT A VALID SIM WITH NO PIN LOCK TO ACTIVATE IPHONE and the keypad lock states SLIDE FOR EMERGENCY.
PLZ ANY HELP WILL BE HIGHLY APPRECIATED.

If you downloaded the restore file from the web instead of making it yourself on a Mac that is probably the reason it needed to be unlocked.
When you make the restore on the Mac it asked if you want to activate the phone during the restore. This is only for people on legit carriers. So the web versions have this turned off so that it won't automatically do it and mess up your phone if you aren't using a legit carrier.

Hi
A very useful guide. Before I attempt any jailbreaking on my iphone I just want to check a few things.
I bought an iphone 3gs second hand which is presently jailbroken and unlocked. the firmware is 3.0.
The baseband is showing as 04.26.08.
Now if I attempt the jailbreak as set out here, the fact that I already have a baseband of 04.26.08, does that mean I will be able to unlock the phone (unlocking is crucial to me). Or by upgrading to 3.1 (using a custom version), does this mean that the baseband will also be upgraded (and therefore I would have to use Fuzzyband first to see the bootloader I have).
Also, I guess the question is, anyone had any luck in finding custom firmware's on the web?
Finally, I presume this won't work for 3.1.2 at the moment?
EDIT: I ran Fuzzyband and my bootloader is 06.04 and my baseband is 04.26.08.Last edited by rupino; 10-12-2009 at 11:49 PM.
