Iphone 2g redsnow and activation help!

Hi, i have a 2g iphone which was unlocked/jailbroke running on 1.1.4 i think? updated to 3.0.1 via itunes, lost jailbreak etc

used redsnow 0.8 using 3.0 restore, go through putting into DFU mode, connects reconnects etc until it gets to ''Please wait while your iphone is jailbroken'' and says ''waiting for reboot'' herd if you unplug and the plug back in it carries on, but wont do it for me? some how managed to get it to work (dont know how) now it asks for activation? tried using redsnow again but gets stuck as above? please help...

I am having the exact same problem. I tried using the 3.0.1 custom firmware but it wont RedSnow won't recognize it.
