2G 3.1.2 firmware upgrade to 4.2.1

For some reason when I use redsnow 0.9.6.rc19 to try to upgrade my 2G from 3.1.2 to 4.2.1, redsnow goes through all the processes but the ramdisk doesn't show up on the phone's display screen & after about 3-4 minutes of a black screen the phone reboots back to version 3.1.2. Can anyone help me find the compatible Pwnage version to upgrade to firmware 4.2.1? BUT AGAIN THIS IS A 2G NOT A 3G OR 4G.

There is no firmware higher then 3.1.3 for the 2g
