Default Can't manually reboot device after jailbreak

I just upgraded to 4.3.1 up from 4.1 JB using PwnageTool that came out today.

When I go to hold down the power/sleep switch to bring up the "power off" red slider, it just shuts the screen off as if I simply pressed the switch. No matter how long I hold the damned thing down, it just shuts the screen off. I hold both power/home buttons down to do a hard reset, and it just takes a screen capture image (to get around this, I had to do another restore in PKGBackup, and have it reboot my device; I don't like to have to do this, but it didn't properly reboot, it just respringed).

Anyone have any idea as to WTF is going on here? First time I've had an issue with a jailbreak.

That's weird. Never seen this before. I hate to say this but maybe try a restore and rejb. If the problem persists, it's likely due to restoring from back up or something you recently installed with Cydia. Might want to then just try a restore and set up as new.

I was fearing that. I know that it's always frowned upon - and, dare I say, taboo - to restore from backup when upgrading on jailbroken firmware, but I've always done that since the early days and I've never had any issues with it.

Guess there's a first for everything.

It shouldn't be a problem to restore from backup if a pre-existing problem isnt/wasn't present. Seeing as how you have the problem now, further restoring from backup from here on out can likely just keep bringing the problem back.

Here's the bad thing I just realized: if I'm to reapply the jailbreak, I can't enter DFU mode without a properly working sleep switch.

    Advice?

[EDIT] Just tried an "easy" restore; simply option-clicked "Restore" in iTunes, selected the custom firmware, and got error 21 while trying to. Phone rebooted, but it's stuck at the Apple logo, and has been for the better half of 10 minutes.

[EDIT 2] Now I'm at the "Connect to iTunes" screen, and I'm trying to enter DFU mode from here, but nothing. Tried applying the custom 4.3.1 firmware, but again, error 21. Since I'm not worried about preserving my baseband (I don't need an unlock), should I just do a stock 4.3.1 upgrade, DFU the damned thing, then restore using the custom 4.3.1?

[EDIT 3] And that's what I did. Updated to stock 4.3.1, DFU'd it, restored using custom 4.3.1, now just gotta reinstall OpenSSH for my texts and PKGBackup for my Cydia stuff (minus the known packages giving the firmware issues).

So your power button wasn't working right all along? Then that's a different story. I was under the impression it was working bc you could take a screenshot which requires a functional home and power button.
