my iPhone 4 was successfully jailbroken and unlocked on 4.1. I used the instructions here to upgrade to 4.2.1. Everything seems successful (everything running, baseband not updated), except for the fact that Cydia won't launch, so I can't unlock, or do anything else really.
Two things I noticed:
1) The version of Cydia installed is the latest sanctioned release (not the uberlatest 1.0.3366.7).
2) At the end of PwnageTool's activity, it said it was one for a never-before-pwned iPhone, which mine is not. It never asked me either way, though.
Any suggestions on how I can fix this? I'm guessing the problem is with #2, but I don't know how to change which version it gives me. If all else fails, a link to a place I could downgrade back to 4.1 without touching my baseband would be fine. To add to the difficulty, I don't have any wifi access right now, just USB and ethernet.
If you're doing it that way with TU, I wouldn't bother using PT. Simply upgrade/restore using TU like before in order to preserve the baseband and then run Greenpois0n to jailbreak it.
*I do urge you to double check with someone else before you try it as I haven't had to deal with preserving basebands in a few months so my thoughts may be outdated for this
