After 2 days of forum reading, tutorial going through & racking my brain, I'm finally going to ask for help!
I have an iphone 3gs that after lots of trail and error went into a loop, went into a loop recovery mode, and now is finally out of that, but when I went through the custom firmware in pwnagetool, it did not put cydia on my phone. I have NO idea why this would have not worked properly, so any insight would be great. This is my first attempt at doing this, but I do have someone a little more advanced "overseeing" me.
Settings:
Old baseband: 5.15.04
Now on baseband: 6.15.00
Firmware: 4.2.1
iPhone: 3gS
I am pretty sure it is the older version, because the 4th and 5th number were "26" but I really am not sure.
Once again, any help (and really dumbed down!) is helpful and appreciated!
I might be wrong but after reading the dev team blog , cydia won't show up on 4.2.1, so you may have done the jailbreak correct, you can still put your repos etc on but it has to be done through terminal / command line . Hope this helps ..
Yes, I don't know how I missed that it wasn't compatible in the hours of searching, but I did eventually find it, and am now running 4.0 (because it was easiest) on the new baseband, and so far working great. Got the push fixed and youtube fixed so I'm ready to roll.
According to the dev team, after using the custom firmware for 4.2.1 with an old bootrom 3Gs you have to run redsn0w to actually jailbreak. It's on their blog post
