Iphone 3GS error 1015 when restoring 4.2.1

If you are old bootrom then you shouldnt be tethered. What makes you think you are old bootrom now?

picked options Cydia and ipad. then tethered.but still the same. checked shsh with tiny umbrella but just keeps running and does not do anything. there is a file shsh on my computer but it's empty. I have version 0.9.6b5 of redsnow

At first, I'm not quite sure what's tether and new boot rom. I google and found a guide to verify. And it's 359.3 which is old BR after i posted the message. I redo and everything work fine. Thanks.

i try to upgrade it using redsnow
then it stucked at apple logo with loading circle, and vibrating
then i try to upgrade it using itunes, i get error 1015, i search what it is mean, otherwise i am not downgrading, im confused

Are you trying to upgrade to 4.2.1 custom FW? What's your baseband?

To restore, you need to use redsnow put the phone to DFU mode then restore it with custom 4.2.1 FW. Then run redsnow again to JB & unlock it using ultrasnow. I'm not expert, other please confirm.

Hej, I have the same problem - my iPhone is blocked in recovery mode and iTunes throws error 1015 when I want to restore. I have tried some stuff to put it out of recovery mode (RecBoot, tinyumbrella...) but it always returns to it.

I understand I need a custom firmware, where can I get that? What iOS version will that be? 4.2.1? So, if I understand correctly the other post I need to:
1. Use redsn0w to put my iPhone in DFU mode
2. Shift restore my iPhone from iTunes using the custom firmware
3. ? Is that it

Help!!!
I bought an iphone 3gs on ebay...it was jailbroken and unlocked to 4.01..
so then i by mistake updated to 4.2.1.. here is what i did.. step by step.. an then whats happening

- downloaded the 4.2.1 and updated it
- installed redsn0w
- then jail breaked it with redsnow
- tried to unlock but couldnt get singel
- then i upgraded it to the baseband 6 ( something ) via redsnow the Ipad thing
- then still wouldnt work
- opened itunes and clicked restore an then got error 1015

- now i cant turn it on... and if i turn it on its stuck on the screen with itunes logo and arrow`s pointing to plug it in..
when i try to push shift.. restore on itunes.. an select the old 4.2.1 from redsnow it goes all way and then says error 1015....

WHAT DO I DO????
