Default 2G on Jailbroken 3.1.3, need activation; broken sleep button HELP!
    I have upgraded to a jailbroken 3.1.3 from a jailbroken 3.1.2 using PwnageTool 3.1.5

I'm an at&t customer swapping from a broken 3GS back to my old 2G until my new refurb 3GS comes in the mail. I got a new SIM from at&t to activate the phone, went through iTunes to activate. Phone still has no service and does not properly activate (displays waiting for activation message on lock screen).

I only wish to jailbreak it, not unlock.
Within PwnageTool, I left the 'enable baseband update' checked but not the 'activate phone' box (I'm an at&t customer going to set up phone as a completely new phone).

Any suggestions on how to activate it?

I'm considering updating to 3.1.3, then running the custom .ipsw again to jailbreak, but cannot put phone into DFU mode since sleep button is unresponsive. Don't want to lose the jailbreak if I don't have to.

    Any help/direction would be appreciated.
    Thank you.

Restore to 3.1.3 again and then use Redsn0w 0.9.4 to jailbreak but browse to 3.1.2 when running redsn0w. You can read more from here :
    How to Jailbreak/Unlock 3.1.3 iPhone 2G Windows & OS X
After you have done a restore, activate it with your official sim and then do the jailbreak.
Since you are with ATNT, When running redsn0w only check the box Install Cydia.

thanks for the link, great info.
I can't enter DFU mode though, my sleep button is unresponsive.

    Any workaround ideas?
..or would only installing Cydia not require me to enter DFU?
