Iphone 3G 3.1.2 looking for upgrade

Hi,

I Jbed the phone a while back at 3.1.2, baseband 4.26.08. Since then, it's working pretty good. I recently noticed the battery to be draining a bit faster. I'd like to know if it's a good idea to upgrade to 3.1.3, or even perhaps to the 4.0 bandwagon?

If so, can i still use pwnage tool and ultrasn0w for that? I want to preserve my baseband. Thank you.
