[HELP] iPhone could not be restored because the firmware file is not compatible

I am still trying to update my 3GS to custome IOS4

after creating the custome formware with PwnageTool 4.0, i put my iPhone on DFU and browsed for the custome formware but each time I try to restore I get error 1600.


i have an

iPhone 3GS
firmware 3.1.2 jailbroaken with blackra1n
baseband 5.11.07
Bootloader 359.3 [iBoot-359.3]

I found somewhere in the forum that the old bootrom is iBoot 359.3, the New is iBoot 359.3.2

Here what i have done to get rid of this error

1. Restore back to 3.1.2 (if you’ve saved your SHSHs on Cydia).
2. After restoring is complete – jailbreak your iPhone with blackra1n.
3. Now connect your iPhone to iTunes (without DFU) and restore with iOS 4.0 GM cooked firmware you made previously with PwnageTool using tutorial above.
4. There shouldn’t be anymore 1600 error while restoring and you’ll be on 4.0 jailbroken after restore is complete. :-)
