Has anybody got this to work on 3gs?

I get almost complete, just a little bit from the end and it just stays there!

Y'all need to be giving A LOT more information. What firmware you were on before.. how you jailbroke on that firmware... etc..

Remember.. the only way to jailbreak the old bootrom 3GS is to be on 3.1.X jailbroken already with pwnage or blackra1n and then restore to a custom 4.0 firmware. You cannot go from a stock fimware to a custom 4.0 firmware and you can't go from a spirit jailbreak to a custom 4.0 firmware.

How did you guys get pass the error 1600?

I have 3GS with old boot rom and TMobile, accidentally upgraded to official 4.0, pulling my hair trying to get my phone back to work. Keep getting error 1600 every time I tried to restore with the cooked fw in DFU.

to get pass the 1600 error i did not even put the iphone in recovery mode. I just left it on and hold down on option and restore and selected custom firmware. To the moderator i was on 3.1.2 firmware and old bootroom and yes i have jailbroken on the 3.1.2 firmware using pwnage. I folliowed the instructions but as area51 says it just stays at the end almost completing with the apple logo.

accidentally upgraded to official 4.0 I believe to be your issue for now anyway. Since you are no longer jailbroken, dont think this pwn will work. I may be wrong, but I would re-read those instructions.

I got the phone back to work by restore back to 3.1.3 (stored shsh from Cydia), use Spirit/prepaid SIM to JB and ultrasn0w to unlock. Not on IOS 4.0 but at least I can make phone call for now.

guys it actually worked. I just left my iphone plugged after doing the custom restore thing using pwnage. What I did different i deselected the recovery logo in pwange and redid my custom firmware and it worked!!!. It took a while but it worked.

Well that would be 3gs 32GB old bootrom PWNAGE Tool 3.1.5 at firmware 3.1.3 and baseband at 05.11.07 and not unlocked as I be stuck with AT&T!

Update though after trying mulitple times and on different usb connection and on the fourth comptuer I got it!

One thing I will add is that I did it on Windows 7

I have Macbook which I have always PWNED the iphone with and that is what I used to make the custom file with, just kept lugging it to all the computers on USB stick!

One problem though as mentioned in a thread I open the Springboard keeps crashing! Has from the start! Would like some help there!

Problem solved as I removed the LockInfo stuff from my iphone!

Oddley enough I started by opening Cydia and chose Manage then chose Packages and started down the list! If it was Cydia or Big Boss or any of the originals in Cydia and it was like an add on I deleted it and if it was Cydia affilated I chose to reinstall! If it was like an add on like LockInfo I would delete untill I got it working!
