new iphone user, plz help me restore it.

Hello all. I need a little help. I just bought an iphone 3gs which is unlocked and jailbroken running on 3.1.2. i intended to use it with tmobile, and since the internet wasnt working when i popped in the sim card, i called them to help me out. the rep told me to pop in some web pages in the settings and then to turn off the phone and turn it back on. so i did that and when i tried to turn it back on it asked to connect it to itunes. i already tried all the tutorials here about restoring it and stuff. but the problem is that once it's in the option called 'verifying with apple' it says my device is ineligible to restore with 3.1.2. so what to do? i havent even made my first phone call with my new phone. any help is always welcomed. Thanks.

Have you tried booting the phone by running blackra1n while the phone is connected to the computer?
