Default Computer Died... No Service after Jailbreak... NOTHING works!!!!

    Hi,

Here's the problem, try to keep it short:

    Started with...
Jailbroken iPhone 3g (not sure if pwned, did it on xp a yr ago)
    2.2.1 with BB 2.28.
    Official AT&T customer

    Then...
I tried to pwn it using PwnageTool 3.1.4 in Simple mode. Created a custom ipsw, but i think "activate iphone" may have been checked since I was in Simple mode. Restored to the custom ipsw in iTunes 9.0.2 (in Leopard). iPhone didnt activate and had no service.

I then tried again in Expert Mode leaving "activate" unchecked. Went through the whole process. Restored. No Luck. Still no service.

I am ALL out of ideas. Anybody have any ideas? I've tried downgrading to 2.2 and 3.1.0, resetting network settings, I want to stay at BB 2.28 if possible, or one that can be easily jailbroken. I dont want to have to go to the Apple Store, because I NEED my phone (for work). Please Help!!!

Lets get some vocabulary straight first. A baseband is something that can only be "unlocked"... as in using it for another carrier. Your firmware is what can be "jailbroken". At this moment every firmware can be jailbroken and every baseband can be unlocked. Restore in iTunes to factory 3.1.2 and then use blackra1n to jailbreak AFTER you let iTunes activate the phone.

Just to get things straight, if I go to the factory 3.1.2, will that automatically upgrade my baseband? If so, will i still be able to unlock it? Because I plan on selling it in the near future if I can unlock it.

I swear I might actually jump off a cliff. Someone please tell me what is unclear about the sentence: "At this moment every firmware can be jailbroken and every baseband can be unlocked."
