"No service" after 3.1.2 Pwnage Update
So I just updated the firmware to 3.1.2, after creating the custom firmware for 3.1.2 using Pwnage Tool 3.1.4. I double checked that the "activate phone" was NOT checked. The update went fine. I even updated it as a "New phone" instead of from an old backup. I still have No Service. I then updated the Carrier file, and restarted the phone, and still no service. I followed some other post to add the ultrasn0w repository (repo666.ultrasn0w.com), but cydia can't find it.
How do I get service back???

You need to activate it if you're not on an official carrier.

I'm on AT&T. That's why I created the custom firmware through Pwnage Tool with the "Activate Phone" box unchecked.

I'd restore to 3.1.2 factory.. then activate with iTunes. Finally go to blackweather and download blackra1n to jailbreak.

What's the difference between jailbreaking with blackra1n vs. useing pwnage tool?

Ra1n jailbreaks after the fact... pwnage integrates the jailbreak into the firmware. Both work without issue.

Alright. I'll give it a shot. So you're saying upgrade to the regular 3.1.2 and then jailbreak for 3.1.2?

Yes.. read my other post. Be sure to activate with iTunes before you jailbreak.

My bad earlier, apparently wasn't paying close enough attention.
You need to have either ultrasn0w or blacksn0w on your phone, depending on the baseband version.
If you're on 3.1.2 with Pwnage and BB 04.26.08, find a way to get ultrasn0w on the phone. If your BB is on 05.11.07, get blacksn0w.

How do you check the baseband version?

If you get ultrasn0w on it, your phone should get service.
Personally, I'd suggest you go that route and not restore to official 3.1.2, the reason being that some people have experienced problems with the combination of blacksn0w and BB 05.11.07.

I meant to try to do ultrasn0, but I forgot and ended up upgrading to the official 3.1.2. Ran blackra1n with out any problems. However, I still have "no service" right now. I am waiting for blacksn0w and cydia to download and install. We'll see what happens after that.
I am wondering if the reason is because I am out of country right now cus I am deployed and have my service suspended with AT&T right now. Though when I first got to where I am at I was able to pick up the local service provider with no problems.

That could be a problem, yes.
Try activating through blacksn0w and see if it helps. If not, you can always restore back to official 3.1.2

I know, but try hactivating with blackra1n/blacksn0w even though you normally wouldn't since you're on official carrier.

still a no go after blackra1n and blacksn0w. Still get the same message. My phone sees the local carrier in the Settings>Carriers. Then again, I still have an AT&T sim card. I will probably call AT&T tomorrow and talk to tech support, cus either way I should still have service even if my phone is suspended, and I was on the official 3.1.2 before JB.

Actually no. If they have suspended your service that means your SIM has been deactivated and having "No Service" at the top is normal in that case.

Facing the same issue... :(
Tried all possible ways but...

Please read my iphone situation below.......
I updated my 2G iPhone 3.0.0 with 3.1.2 through iTune 9.2. My iPhone is unlock and working fine. However, I am not able to make calls, its displaying "No Service" instead of my Network Carrier logo and signal.
I tried all the possible ways on my 2G iPhone 3.1.2 to get the service back but found no result and its still displaying "No Service".
Furthermore, the Network is displaying “Not Available” in Setting > General > About and there is no Carrier Available in the carrier status. However, everything was working fine with iPhone Firmware 3.0.0 on my iPhone
My iPhone’s bootloader (Modem Firmware) Ver is 04.05.04_G. Is it possible to get the “Service” back on my iPhone device.
Please help, let me know if you need any further information from my side.
Thanks
