Using Pwnage FW for multiple phones?

If i made a custom FW with the Pwnagetool can that firmware be used on my friends phone. they are both 3gs and my custom FW is 3.1.2 and he phone is currently running at 3.0.1 but its having issues. what i was thinking i could do is restore her phone with that custom FW to fix her phone and maintain her BB. will this work?

Yes, if you both needed the same settings that you set up during the making of the firmware.
e.g. whether you both need activation or not.
