    Default 3.1.2 back to 3.1

I upgraded 2g iphone to 3.1.2 but encountered lots of problems with cydia, tried restore 5 times before cydia would load. Decided to go back to 3.0.1 then 3.1.
When I created my custom firmware for 3.1 with pwnage 3.1.3 should I update the baseband, it is currently at 04.05.04_G.

You need to use PwnageTool 3.1.4, not 3.1.3, in order to create a custom 3.1.2 firmware. This may be the source of your problem. If so, download an updated version of PwnageTool (v3.1.4) and then create a new custom firmware for firmware 3.1.2. Before restoring a custom firmware using iTunes, put your iPhone into recovery mode, not DFU mode. Here how:
    1. Turn your iPhone off and disconnect it from cable/dock.
    2. Hold down the home button.
    3. While holding down the home button, connect your iPhone to your computer with a cable (easiest) or dock.
    4. Keep holding down the home button until you see a Connect-to-iTunes screen. You are now in recovery mode.
Set up your iPhone as a new device and then sync your contacts, music, ringtones, calendar, apps, mail, etc. Do not "restore from backup" in iTunes.

Make sure your baseband (Modem FW) is 04.05.04G. Check your Modem Firmware in your iPhone's Settings -> General -> About. If your modem firmware is less than 04.05.04G, then you will need to do restore a stock 3.0.1 firmware in iTunes via OPTION+RESTORE; so it updates your baseband. FYI: If your current firmware is newer than 3.0.1, then you need to put your iPhone into DFU mode before restoring it in iTunes. You will then need to jailbreak it using Redsn0w v0.8. Remember, when using Redsn0w on firmware 3.0.1, you need to select the stock 3.0 firmware to jailbreak it. Once you are jaibroken again, you can restore a custom 3.1.2 firmware.

    Notes:
Be aware, that the carrier name will be missing from the iPhone's status bar in both firmware 3.1 and 3.1.2. This is a cosmetic issue and does not effect functionality. To fix it, install "MakeItMine" from Cydia and enter the name of your carrier (AT&T, T-Mobile, Rogers, etc).

Phone is now on 3.1 with 04.05.04_G baseband. I am going to try 3.1.2 again. Is there any way to restore a game's saved data, if setting the phone up as new device. Also is there any problems with winterboard on 3.1.2.

    Thanks
