Can ultrasn0w work for Jailbreak 3.1 with PwnageTool 3.1.3?

I upgraded my iPhone 3GS to fw 3.1 using PwnageTool 3.1.3 and carefully followed the guide, after that the iPhone cannot detect the network signal, i cant make or receive calls.

My question is: if i install ultrasn0w can this solve the problem?

I want to upgraded to 3.1.2 fw with PwnageTool 3.1.4 wont this worsen my situation?

Yes you need to install Ultrasn0w in order to use non-official carriers like T-Mobile. However, I suspect that you did not select "Activate phone" when you created your custom firmware. When you create your custom firmware with PwnageTool 3.1.4, make sure you select "Advanced", and then select "Activate phone". Only select "Cydia" and not "Icy". Selecting both will cause problems.

I would highly recommend installing custom firmware 3.1.2 over 3.1 because it fixes many problems including the "coma mode crashes". FYI, you will notice that the carrier name is missing next the the signal bars on the iPhone 3GS status bar with both 3.1 and 3.1.2. To fix it, install "MakeItMine" in Cydia, run it and enter "T-Mobile".

Anyway, i just want to find out how do i run MakeItMine from Cydia?
Do i have to download it? if so do u have the link? or its an application that is already on Cydia and i just select it and install it?

1. From your iPhone 3GS, make sure you turn on WiFi and connect to wireless network.
2. Run Cydia on your iPhone.
3. Click on Search and enter "MakeItMine".
4. Click Install and then Confirm.
5. After Cydia finishes installing MakeItMine, Cydia should close and it should respring your iPhone.
6. On one of your iPhone 3GS screens, there should be a new icon called MakeItMine. Run it, enter your carrier name like T-Mobile and press SET.

That's it.
