OMFG Enough already
Is there a way to jailbreak my 3G on Windows XP that doesn't require 12 fix videos to explain the previous fix?

If it's not on 3.1 or 3.1.2 then use redsn0w. If it's been upgraded then pwnage for mac or blackra1n (which sucks for the 3G) are your ONLY options.

Dammit man!!!

I finally got it to work with blackra1n. I did the right click / run as thing but, I didn't run as administrator.

As soon as the phone shut off, I held both buttons down and when it came on I released the power button. I held the home button until the geohot pic popped up and all was good.Last edited by ElGriton; 10-24-2009 at 11:15 AM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost

There have been a million different reports on what to do / not to do.
Bottom line, it's different for everyone. Of course running a program will help it run the way it's intended to run, as opposed to the way Windows thinks it should run. Of course turning off virus scan will help a program that needs to infest itself in svchost to run properly.
All common sense thinking aside, just try and try again. Success rate measured across the forums seem to vary from 2 tries to 2 weeks of trying. Personally, following the standard Blackra1n guide (which I'm using due 3.1.2 w/ no unlock needed), it took me just a handful of tries while the oven was preheating for some frozen pizza.
Bottom line, don't read what John Doe did to get it to work. Do what you were told to do by the people who matter. That's what 90% the public did.
