I sent the following message to Saurik 6 days ago but have not received a response. So, I thought I'd try here.
Just 2 weeks ago, I spent all day updating my jailbroken 3gs 3.0.1 to jailbroken 3.1. Granted, the majority of the time was spent designing and tweaking the look and sound of my iPhone. I use AT&T, so I don't bother "unlocking" the phone. I just want it to look and sound the way I want it to look and sound.
Now, not even a week to enjoy it, Apple comes out with 3.1.2. I already assume that I should go through the same process I did last time - that was easy.
What's hard is having to download all the software from Cydia and installing it all over again. Then, I have the task and returning the look and sound of my iPhone to how I want it. I am not looking forward to going through that process again!
I was hoping there was a way of restoring my Jailbreak? In other words, once I update to jailbreak 3.1.2, is there a way to automatically restore everything that was installed from Cydia previously and to restore the settings that I had spent all day tweaking?
As of yet, I have not updated to 3.1.2. Hoping for an easy solution first.
There are a few backup programs for Cydia, APTbackup, Pkgbackup and Rock has the option to backup & restore your programs for you after a fresh install.
Saurik is not going to reply to you because all you had to do was google "cydia backup" and you would have had your answer.....
