Unhappy Phone stuck in restore mode

IPhone 3G. stuck in restore mode. have put it in DFU mode and tried to restore using multiple ipsws. no luck. phone always reboots to pwnage restore image and itunes displays error. tried multiple pcs, macs, downgrading itunes, etc. same thing happens.

any ideas would be great. the phone is useless at the moment. out of ideas.

I used Pwnage tool to jailbreak my 3G to 3.1. Everything has been great until I recently synced my music, etc. The phone rebooted and has been stuck in recovery mode ever since (2 days ago).

iTunes gives me an unknown error (1611) when I try to restore it, it looks like it's working until it reverts back to the steve jobs pic and fails.

I've tried multiple suggested methods such as different PC; different mac; previous versions of iTunes; pre-3.1 ipsw; tried ...re-jailbreaking with redsnow; blackrain (looked promising with the geohot pic, then flipped back to the restore mode again).

...out of ideas. even went to the apple store after giving up but they won't touch it since it's jbroken...
    out of warranty....not good.

    ....HELP?

    Download irecovery
and once downloaded and installed you will open terminal with your phone plugged in and type this command
    irecovery -s

then type these commands in this order.

    setenv auto-boot true
    saveenv
    fsboot

after those three commands it should reboot after about 5-10 seconds..
Or if you wanna a much easier way download quickpwn 2.2.5 and it will tell to hold the home and power buttons for 15 sec... it pertty much sends the same commands as above but you never see them..

usually the iphone phone gets stuck in recovery mode when you are downgrading from a higher version to a lower and what gets it stuck in recovery is the baseband.. because the firmware is done downgrading and when it tries to downgrad base band it goes in recovery loop mode...
