Default i can't get pwnage tool to accept any of my boot images

i've googled for guides on how to do this and have followed three separate guides precisely to no effect. most of these guides are a year older or more. what is the trick to making this work?

I had t make the file size much smaller than the original directions stated. The one I use is about 12 kb.

Make sure you are in RGB mode with one Alpha channel. I found once that my file was not saving in the proper format I dont recall the exact details but I had to redo the file and resave.

im sure it is RGB mode. the Alpha channel thing I'm not sure about but most of the guides I read simply said I should leave some part of the image transparent to achieve this. Any specific place or settings in Photoshop i should be looking for?

You can check image - mode - rgb to make sure the file didnt revert to indexed color. As far as how to do this in Photoshop I did it once and dont remember exactly what I did. i usually find this much simpler to use Gimp on a Windows box. You can google to find many [ame="http://www.google.com/search?q=create+alpha+layer+in+photoshop&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-USfficial&client=firefox-a"]tutorials [/ame]

the image mode is definitely rgb. the only uncertainty i have here is when saving it asks if i want to convert to sRGB, but i have tried both ways: failure

so maybe i didnt have an alpha channel. i successfully created an alpha channel in photoshop, then saved as png. saving as png shows no option to save the alpha channel. opening the newly created png shows no alpha channel. trying to add an alpha channel to png is successful, but then when i try to save it i can only save as psd. i have read that png supports an alpha channel, but i can't figure out how to force the alpha channel to save in photoshop

can you tell me how to do it in gimp? ill try there

EDIT: ok... i have found it simply doesn't like boot logos that are 320 x 480. i tried 319 x 479 and still failure. finally i cropped my logo down below 250 x 250 and it worked just fine following all the same steps. the image was 50k also!

that blows if i want to make a logo that goes all the way to the edge...!

strangely, the recovery logo has no problem being full size

going to keep experimenting until i find where the image size limit is.. doesnt seem to care about file size so much

EDIT2: wow what a pain. i finally got it to work but it has to be png24, with transparency on, with an alpha channel, and around 50k or less. which basically you means you can only make a tiiiiiiiny image.

I neglected to mention that I did crop the physical dimensions of the image as well. Forgot about that. Made my boot logo many months ago and have been using it since then. Not a problem if your image uses a black background. Glad you figured it out.
