It's just a graphical bug and won't cause problems with your connectivity.
It's because your baseband version doesn't match your firmware version and it's something you'll have to live with.
I've never tried it but I know Cydia has an app called MakeItMine where you can make a custom logo.
If you're with an official carrier and don't now, and never will need an unlock, you can restore with iTunes to update your baseband then pwn it afterwards. Then you'll have a pwned device with the carrier logo working. But only do that if you don't need unlock.Last edited by dhamien; 10-19-2009 at 09:51 AM.

Carrier Logo Issue - not just graphical..
Hey
Issue I have is that while it does show the logo the SIM card is registered to (ie: Optus in Australia), I am currently roaming in the UK where Optus have affiliated carriers who give you cheaper rates, so it's actually important to know which carrier's network I'm on at any given time (to avoid paying a truckload in fees).
Unfortunately though, the reception here is often crap so I leave the network selection on Automatic - just so I can get a signal and receive calls if necessary. However, without going into Carrier settings each and everytime to check who the network has flicked me to, I have no way of telling as the logo will always say 'Optus', regardless... and I'm therefore at risk of paying 3 times as much to send receive txts/calls etc.. (I do have another local SIM I'm using in another phone but I need to keep this one active for work calls etc)
Without downgrading to 3.0.1, anyone recommend any other solutions to the carrier logo prob with 3.2.1 (on iPhone 3G).
Really appreciate any help
Cheers

From what I have been reading...the carrier fix in Cydia is only showing the carrier Mobistar everywhere around the world.

Carrier Logo Fixer is showing AT&T for me.
Version 0.2 was posted today. No changelog, unfortunately.
EDIT: the info on the package says
So I would assume that this fix tries it's best to display the correct carrier if you're roaming. Sounds better than options like MiM that "hard-code" the carrier name. For firmware 3.1+. Carriers which are officially known to the iPhone database will show your carrier logo, otherwise it will try to show your carrier name instead.
This package is only useful if you do not see currently ANYTHING in the top-left corner of SpringBoardLast edited by mael; 10-30-2009 at 01:08 PM.

Didnt work at all for me on 3G[S] on 3.1.2. I've use MIM for the moment as I won't be likely to change my carrier for quite some time

Carrier Fix Logo Issue
Yeah, I am using Carrier Fixer, which is what I'm having the problem with in that it is only showing the 'real' carrier, ie: the one the SIM is registered to, not the actual carrier it's using (refer to my problem description above).. Interesting when I put my Vodafone UK pay as you go SIM in my unlocked/JB'ed 3G, it too sayd Mobistar. Ho humm..
Back to the drawing board me thinks.. But thanks anyway.
Any other suggestions, please let me know
Cheers S

You can wait a few days until Blacksn0w is released and then update your baseband. That'll fix the carrier logo bug.
