Upgrading jailbroken 3G from 3.0 to 3.1

What is the best way to upgrade my jailbroken 3G from 3.0 to 3.1? And can I install MMS after the upgrade?

Restore custom firmware made with pwnagetool 3.1.3 or later.

What do you mean install MMS ?

All you need to do is make sure the settings in Settings->General->Network->Cellular Data->MMS are correctly set and you should be able to MMS all you want.

Only the original iPhone 2G can't do MMS in 3.1 but it might if the jailbreak app "ActivateMMS2G" is updated.

ActivateMMS2G should only be run on iPhone 2G devices.

If everything is working on my jb/unlocked iphone running 3.0... why should I upgrade?

The best reason is if you want some of the apps like dropbox that requires newer version than 3.0.

On AT&T though it seems you will no longer be able to get standard tethering to work with 3.1+
