3g no network problem with 3.0

remember the problem with iphone 3g with firmware with old OS
and you mention that it will be solved with 3.0 OS and no service problem with iphone 3g will be solved.

i just finish unlock and jailbreak and everything went smooth but now again the problem appears with no network

try to turn on airplane mode many times and off and i get searching .. up in the screen but it will go back to no network

any help ?

I ran PwnageTool on my mac for building a custom ipsw for my iphone 3g. Ran in expert mode with no changes, and got same result... no AT&T connectivity after boot.

So I ran it again in expert and unchecked "activate the phone" setting under general. That time I was able to connect with AT&T. However, I have a diff problem now... the apps I DL from cydia don't seem to be taking hold. icons appear, but they don't work. i.e. I installed winterboard. It opened fine, but when I chose a diff theme, it didn't apply. Now I'm trying a new ipsw.
