Sorry for the noob post guys. I've been looking all over for a solution to upgrade my iphone to 2.2.1

I've seen people say use iTunes and restore it (I downloaded the firmware from here) then again I see other say don't do it through iTunes unless you have a custom ipsw.

Unfortunately I don't know how to get a custom ipsw, I followed the guide and updated my iPhone from 1.1.4 just today, but I realize I wanted 2.2.1 instead.

Any solution leading me to the preferred way of doing this is greatly appreciated.
