Need help restoring IPhone 3g to new! plz help!

i apologize if this is in the wrong section. i have an iphone 3g that i jailbroke a few months ago. I recently downloaded swaptunes and now my phone wont turn on. when i hold any button it shows steve jobs saying NPEBEA. i am really scared and need any help PLZ! idc about loosing anything i just dont wanna break this! i wanna restore it back to a normal iphone. any help would be greatly appreciated. when i restore it with itunes 8.0.2 it says the iphone could not be restored an unknown error occured(1). plz help im desperate

do i have to press control when i press restore in order for it to work. and during DFU mode, do i have it plugged in to the computer?

After dfu,when itunes recognise your phone is on dfu,then hold down shift on windows OR option on mac;then select the desired fw to restore...

Make sure you are in dfu mode. the iphone screen must be blank once you are in dfu.

when i go to enter DFU mode, the little steve jobs cartoon disappears and itunes doesnt recognize it anymore

also when i plug it in to my mac, it says itunes has detected an iphone in recovery mode

no sir i have a mac OS X 10.4.11. and do u have aim or sumthing cuz it will be a lot easier like that.

Down load itunes 8.1, install it and then give it a shot.

okay i did that and it got a bit farther, but then error 1600 came up. fudge...

Press POWER + HOME for 10 sec, than release POWER and keep HOME pressed for 10 seconds and let iTunes recognize it

i really appreciate u helping zwayne. it recognizes the iphone and says "itunes has detected an iphone in recovery mode. u must restore the iphone" . i select okay and restore with firmware version iPhone 3G firmware v2.2. should i try another fw version?

i tried it a few more times with same error code 1600. is there a guide on this or do u mind writing it step by step. Im pretty sure that i am doing this right but i wanna be 100 percent. thanks

damn it it still didnt work. i got error code 1 now. so i turn it on, it has the pic of steve jobs saying NPEBEA and none of these restores worked. any other suggestions
