Loads of problems trying to jailbreak 3g (first timer)
Hello all.
I'm trying to jailbreak my iPhone 3g and been trying for about 5 hours now and still no luck.
Here is the spec I'm using :
OS X 10.5.6 (Macbook, the white one, not the brand new Aluminum one)
iTunes 8.0.2 (20)
PwnageTool 2.2.5
Running on official UK O2 carrier
I have done nothing else other than install PwnageTool.
This is what happens :
I connect my iPhone to USB and iTunes opens and sync. I then close iTunes and open PwnageTool. I click expert mode, then 3g iPhone and I find my IPSW click next and then click General and select the following :
Unclick Activate Phone & Disable Partition
Click next until I get to Custom Packages Settings and make sure that both Cydia Installer & Installer are both clicked
I want to keep logos so I unclick both pics then i Build!
I enter my password and it complete the build.
My iPhone hasnt been jailbroken before so I click NO
When I click NO iTunes automatically opens so I left it sync and then CLOSE iTunes once more.
I then power down the iPhone and hold the power button and home button for 10 seconds followed by releasing the home button for 10 seconds.
As soon as those final 10 secs are up iTunes then auto opens and comes up with an error saying iPhone not recognized or something similar and the Pwnagetool says I'm IN!
The iPhone stays turned off. It doesnt turn on unless I unplug the USB and hold down power and home for about 15 seconds.
I then close Pwnagetool as it says too and I reconnect the iPhoen to USB and manually restore to the IPSW on the desktop, but this always fails to I have to restore to normal iPhone before I started to Jailbreak.
This happens all the time and I can do anything different
Anyone know what I'm doing wrong?Last edited by Looony; 03-02-2009 at 10:36 AM.

If yo are running OSX 10.5.6, you will need to connect your iPhone to your Macbook via a POWERED USB port.

If I've helped you, you can help me by clicking on that Thanks button.

It plugs into your Macbook's USB port and then you plug your iPhone USB cable into it. By powered, means it also plugs into an electric outlet.

If your mac is running on 4.11.14,then you don't need it...Its only for 10.5.6...
