You can jailbreak 2.2.1 just fine. You just cant "unlock" it with YellowSn0w. That is, if its a 3g.

Yeah unlock means other carriers....and YellowSn0w runs on the iphone.

To jailbreak, just use Quickpwn. And its pretty much idiot proof, there is no way to permanently brick your phone using it.

    Everybody starts somewhere

Just download and install "Quickpwn" (the newest version) and run it. You will need a copy of the firmware thats installed on your phone on your PC, which it probably already is if you loaded it on your phone from your PC. Quickpwn has a user friendly, simple, GUI....just follow what it tells you to do.

Sorry dont have a link in front of me, google quickpwn...much will come up. Also, check out our forum on it.

    Yeah, iClarified has good guides.

The firmware file will be on your computer if you've ever restored to that firmware before.

If not, you can google it, I know there are links floating around to download it.

Edit: I see now the phone is new, so you'll need to google and download the firmware file.

You wont have to firmware just by syncing it.

You will only have the firmware if you downloaded and installed it onto the phone.

Otherwise, you'll have to google to get it.
