Angry Quickpwned with no 4.6 BL

OK, first this is a friends phone. 8g 2g iphone. When he got the phone it had 2.1 fw on it, then he upgraded via itunes to 2.2 fw. After that he used quickpwn22 to jailbreak and unlock his phone. He was successfull with the upgrade and also getting throught the jailbreak/unlock process, but only ran it with the 3.9bl and not the 4.6bl. After he was done the phone seemed to work on wifi and also accepted a t-mobile sim card, but when you tried to make a call it would just fail. You would only get one bar and never said it hooked up to any service. He then tried to do a master erase and reset of all settings. After it finished it got stuck on the pineapple. I have the phone now and have done many jailbreak/unlockes, but this one has me stumped. The phone will not go into dfu/restore mode and will only recharge on a wall charger. It doesn't seem to be recognized with any usb port or cable I use. Please if anyone can help, if I can just get it to connect with itunes or go into dfu/restore mode, I should be able to get it from there. Thanks

I dont see how he only loaded bootloader 4.6, because quickpwn wont even go any further until you load BOTH.

    Do this:

    1. Itunes open, phone off and plugged in to PC.

    2. Hold POWER button for 5 seconds.

    3. WITHOUT letting go of POWER, now hold HOME button for 10 seconds (both held)

    4. Let go of POWER and CONTINUE to hold HOME button until Itunes recognizes the phone (usually 15-20 seconds).

    Restore.

Hopefully he didnt permanently screw anything up with the bootloaders.

Is it possible he just used 3.9bl on both?
Tried what you said, but doesn't get recognized. Just sits on pineapple.

No, he cant pick the same one for both.

It specifically says bootloader 4.6 here and 3.9 here...and it wont let you choose the wrong file and wont go any further until you do.

So, theres no telling what he did. But, IF its a software issue along the lines of what your explaining...then what I posted should work.

You can always try another USB port...and even another computer all together, just to double check.

Not sure how he went throught the whole process then, but it's not working now. I've tried all 11 usb ports on my comp and a few different hubs. None of them work with his phone, but they all work with mine. So I don't think it's the ports or the hubs themself, just his phone. As for you method I've tried like 20 times and still can't get it to recognize in itunes or windows. Is there some other way to restore it? Let me know. Thanks

    Default DFU/Restore

What you ar being told is that you need to get the phone into either DFU mode of Restore mode, theyre both different but accessed in a slightly similar way. As far as I know, unless the lowest level boot loader has been damaged (the baseband?) or some other similar part, there is no reason you shouldnt be able to get it into DFU mode, although restore mode is less likely. If you try using quickpwn or Winpwn or pwnage tool they give you live step by step directions to get into DFU mode.

If you can absolutely not get into DFU or restore then the only other thing i can think of is if he had SSH installed you can SSH some files in to reflash the baseband from the command line, otherwise i'd say the answer is NO - the phone is dead.

Well, I dont have ssh installed, so that's out of the question. I can't get it to go into recovery or dfu mode outside or in the dock, but if I plug it in to the home charger I can get Steve Jobs to pop up. I then take it out and put it in my usb hub, but itunes still won't recognize it. Also after about 30 seconds after I take it off the wall charger it just goes back to the boot screen. Please help. Thanks

    1. Disconnect the iPhone from the sync cable. (You may want to restart your computer before doing all this)

    2. Hold the Sleep/Wake & Home Buttons down for about 30 seconds. You should see the iPhone reset then turn back on, then turn off again.

    3. Turn the iPhone back on.

    4. Hold down the Home button.

    5. While holding down the Home button, connect the sync cable back to the iPhone (Make sure its connected to you computer and make sure iTunes is up and running).

    6. Continue to hold down the home button until you see the restore message in iTunes.

    7. Continue with the restore.

K, I'm gettin frustrated here. I think the phone is way past bricked. When I turn it on all it does is try to load springboard after about 10 minutes then it just shuts down and restarts. I even left it over night and when I woke up it was still trying. I've tried numerous times to get it to go into restore and into dfu mode with no success. I bought a new data cable and used a differnt computer and still no luck. I can get the phone to charge, but it just won't boot up. Please help. I feel like such a nub now.

i know this sounds way stupid but have you tried using ziphone to at least recognize the phone? i had similar issues with my ipod touch a while back and for some strange reason ziphone recognized it. it sounds crazy but i would give it a shot. your phone is pretty messed up though. im not gonna lie. i havent seen anything this bad since the days of 1.1.x jailbreaks

Well, to end this thread, I would like to say thanks to all that helped out. The end result is I have an 8gb 2g Jailbroke/Unlocked iPhone that I thought was bricked for about a week. What I finally did was broke down and went and baught a new data cable from Wal-mart for $20. After I had tried the 5 I have already. I plugged it in to my front USB's and itunes recognized it right away after I put it in restore mode. I felt the bricks fall off my shoulders and I felt like flying. Then halfway through the restore it gave me an error 13. I was like what the %^$#, *&^ $%#$ piece of !@#$. Excuse my language. So I then plugged it into the back USB straight from the MB and ran the restore again with my fingers and toes crossed. It worked! Finally, she restored to 2.2 and I then proceeded to use quickpwn and jailbroke/unlocked it. If any one is having problems please feel free to ask. I would be more than happy to help. Thanks

May all your bars be plentiful and your sources refresh.

Have you tried to sync and charge with the other cables since? I'm reluctant to think the cables are really at fault. I mean, what are the chances of 5 faulty cables? It's probably more likely that something you did since on the computer/phone decided to make it work.

Ok how about this. Restart pc or mac, then try to do a normal restore. No DFU mode or anything, ok. If that doesnt work, put phone in DFU mode and try restoring it, if that doesnt work Hold the power and home button for like 30 sec. this will get the phone out of DFU mode and get it back 2 normal. When it's back to normal go into cydia and install bootneuter or w/e and upgrade the bootloader to 4.6! then restore!
