BossPref hides Cydia and Installer after firmware upgrade 2.2
Hi all,
I have the following problem - I hope you could help me.
I was running a jailbreak iPhone 3g with 2.1 firmware.
During that time, I selected BossPref and hide Cydia and Installer icons but the BossPref is still there (so I can activate Cydia and Installer whenver needed).
I forgot about this, and then now, after I installed 2.2 firmware, then I jailbreak again using QuickPwn.
Unfortunately, the Cydia and Installer icons are gone, but as well as the BossPrefs.
How can I "un hide" Cydia and Installer again now?
Please help...
Thank you.
Regards,

Did you try a DFU restore to 2.2 and then use the quickpwn 2.2 jailbreak (without hiding icons)?

Sorry I didn't understand what you mean.
Do you mean I should restore it from iTunes to 2.1 again and then re-upgrade to 2.2 and then jailbreak it again?
What I've done is as follows.
1. I've had 2.1 jailbroken.
2. then, I hid the icons of Cydia and Installer using BossPrefs.
The bossprefs icon is still there.
3. then, I upgraded to 2.2
4. jailbreak it
5. but I found no cydia and installer, nor bossprefs
I found some sites that uploads BossPrefs.app.
The problem is: I have to put it in the Application folder.
However, how can I do so?
The new jailbroken 2.2 does not have SSH enabled yet (although I had it for 2.1 earlier).
Any idea? Thank you

Did you do the quickpwn 2.2 after you upgraded to firmware 2.2?

Yes, I have done quickpwn after upgrading to 2.2
Interestingly, the previously installed .IPA work fine (they are not purchased by me though- they are cracked .IPA).
The problem is still the same.
How can I enable Cydia and INstaller again?
SSH is still OFF now..
Is there any way to install the .app to the iPhone without the SSH enabled?
Or should I just jailbreak it again?
Thank you for the advice.
Is it possible to Quickpwn 2.2 again after it is done with QuickPwn 2.2?
(I mean do it twice)Last edited by pspbag; 01-01-2009 at 06:24 AM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost

The first time I jailbroke I unchecked the three selections and cydia/installer were not where to be found.
Jailbroke again and all was well

Try going to settings - general - restrictions and enable restrictions
Then hit the home key, go back and disable restrictions
Hit the home key, and hopefully Cydia and Installer will be there.Last edited by center_99_99; 01-01-2009 at 10:36 AM.

This technique doesn't work unfortunately

Cydia and Installer are still not there...
will try to jailbreak again...
I just jailbroke it again and there is no difference. The cydia and installer icons are still not there...
I will try to restore it to its default now...
The BossPrefs is creating trouble..
I've restored the iPhone but now it has 2.2 firmware by default.
What should I do??
It is fine now... after I restore it to the default, then jailbreak again, then the icons are there now...
Oh.. BigPrefs created problem this time.
I hope it won't happen to anyone else.
Thanks heaps for all the advises.Last edited by pspbag; 01-01-2009 at 01:57 PM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost
