    Default Question re: Pwnage Tool

    Hi, 2 questions about this:

    1. I sync my iPhone 16gb 3G v2.0.2 with my windows machine, can i use Pwnage on my mac to update to 2.2? Its not currently jailbroken and I use a turbosim type thing to use my SIM Card

    2. How can I create a custom firmware with Pwnage that doesnt upgrade the baseband so i can still use the planned unlocking? I have to download the unmodified one from itunes right? Ive read through a lot of information here but i really dont want to stuff this up!

    cheers

    1. yes. You can also make a custom firmware on your Mac with Pwnage and copy it to your Windows machine and restore there too. Syncing is separate from Jailbreak. Make sure you sync everything first, then restore as "new" with your custom Pwnage firmware. You will keep all your media but will have to redo your settings like ringtone, weather locations etc... if you use them.

    2. As a contract ATT user I have never done that personally, but when you run Pwnage you should be give vatious choices to check off. You do need a stock firmware (unmodified) first. Pwnage will compile the custom firmware. Yo then will use the custom firmware and restore with iTunes. Remember if you are restoring on Windows to hold the shift key as you click restore, or on a Mac option-restore or else you will get an unmodified firmware and if you want to retain the ability to unlock you dont want to do that with 2.2.

If I've helped you, you can help me by clicking on that Thanks button.
