yesterday i jailbroke my 2.2 firmware iphone 3g using pwnage (latest version), today i got a bit fidgity about this so went into itunes to restore it to normal firmware.
it now keeps on going in a loop of downloading the firmware, trying to install it onto the iphone and then saying ERROR 1013.
i have put it into DFU mode a couple of times (black screen then a white flash afterwards) and this STILL doesn't enable me to restore to NORMAL 2.2. can anyone help? PLEASE! :-(
update: i dont know WHY this worked, but going into DFU mode then downloading the update manually and restoring whilst holding the shift key (so i could select this update) worked.
the trouble is that NOW I CAN'T JUST CLICK THE RESTORE BUTTON without the shift key, it says "resource could not be found". have i messed around a bit too much with my iphone?
I think the reason it gave you the error is b/c if you upgrade to 2.2 firmware with pwnage then it keeps the 2.1 baseband. When you plug into iTunes and hit restore (to 2.2) it freaks out b/c the firmware and basebands don't match. This is why a "DFU" restore was needed to complete the process. If you're getting a "resource cannot be found" message this means the folder to the iphone firmwares has been deleted. Try re-installing iTunes.
thank you so much for your help! i've managed to restore it from another computer (at last!) and it didn't give me ANY errors then, plus that's after a complete ERASE of all data, so i think my iphone 3g is as VIRGIN as they come now.
thanks so much for your help though. i dont think jailbroken is for me... i'm just going to be content with the app store i think! :-)
