Default Pwnage Tool + Phone errors

I have a 16GB iPhone and I'm using Pwnage Tool to jailbreak on my Mac. I'm getting errors by doing it 2 different ways.

First error is with Simple Mode, it just fails after it asks me to type in my password.

Since I'm having problems with Simple Mode, I tried using Expert Mode. I uncheck Installer because I don't want that there. I also uncheck the the boot up screen and restore screen or whatever that is. Everything is fine and all, but the question "Do you have an iPhone 3G contract that would activate normally through iTunes?" never pops up. Another error is after putting the phone in DFU/Recovery mode. Once I do that, I get an error on iTunes, which forces me to unplug and plug the phone back in. Now, the main problem is that my phone is no longer on the AT&T network, thus I can't make any calls.

It would help to know 1. what version of pwnage 2. What firmware you're trying to use 3. What EXACT errors you are being given from pwnage AND iTunes.

    Pwnage Tool 2.2

    Firmware 2.2

    I followed the 3G guide: Pwnage 2.x Guide 3G - ModMyi - Wiki

    "I Haz Failed" from Pwnage

The one from iTunes says the phone is in restore mode and that it ended with "(1)"
