Thats the way I did my phone through the iclarifed.com it works great ! no problems and only takes about 15 min. make sure you leave the t-mobile sim in the phone when you use jail break and unlock.
I have similar problem but my new to me iphone needs to be activated first. How can I do that ? thx
The phone is jailbroken/unlocked/activated all in the same process. Follow the guide above.
