iphone 3g turbo sim and greyas unlocked, but no data? any ideas!?

Hey everyone, I have a new (brand new) iphone 3g 16gb that originally came with 2.0.2, I upgraded it immediately to 2.1, and plugged in my turbo sim, it works OK I guess. Sometimes it looses it's signal and goes into no service. But I NEVER got a data connection. I plugged in the appropriate data and it still didn't work.

I also went into a store today and put in a new Greyas or whatever it's called Turbo Sim and it gave me 100% coverage (yay) but no data still! Any ideas? Could it be the OS? Is my phone messed up?

turn off 3g
turn on data roaming
make sure you have your APN set correctly (tmobile is internet2.voicestream.com)

reboot and you should be fine
