i haz Fail when creating custom IPSW
Hey guys,
I had this same exact problem with PwnageTool when the first 2.0 jailbreak came around, but never pursued it since I was able to get going with QuickPwn.
This time around though, I'd like to use PwnageTool for the 2.2 jailbreak just in case I want to unlock down the road. Unfortunately, I absolutely cannot get a custom IPSW created successfully. I've tried using Simple and Expert mode, but it always fails shortly after asking me for my password. I've quite the app and restarted multiple times (and even made sure iTunes was closed, even though I know this shouldn't have anything to do with IPSW creation).
Any help/guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Here is what I did to get mine to work on my 2G iPhone:
Open Activity Monitor and kill iTunes Helper
Open Pwnage and go to expert mode
Check whatever settings I needed and let it build.

I keep getting this error when I try to create custom firmware.
2008-11-22 23:44:47 - No free space left on root partition.
2008-11-22 23:44:47 - FAIL
Any ideas on a fix?
*Edit* I fixed this by not installing installer.Last edited by ian_frs; 11-22-2008 at 09:49 PM.

Forgot to mention, when in expert mode under the general section, check activate if you are on T-Mobile or another carrier, but if you activate through iTunes, uncheck it, also, change the root partition size to 1000, not 500.

Anyone want to share their custom ipsw so I can option restore? Can't get Pwnage to build my ipsw either. I've tried all options.

Hey, so does anyone have any solutions for creating the custom ipsw for a 3G iPhone? I tried doing it on expert settings like someone suggested here but it failed also. Any advice would greatly help.

I had the same problem, I just increased the size and it worked fine, the only problem was losing the carrier that people posted 100+ times!
