I just bought an iphone3g this week from at&t, it had firmware 2.11.07, I tried to jailbreak by using quick pwn 2.1 I downloaded the 1,2_1.ipsw then went along with instructions when i got to the screen were it asks wait for your iphone to connect in recovery mode then it put my iphone to recovery mode (screen shows usbcable w/arrow ponted to itunes) but then it just stayed there and now thats were im stuck so I tried to restore form itunes but as if I didn't have enough problems itunes nor the pc recognizes my iphone. device manager shows nothing with apple under universal controllers. I tried to get out of recovery mode by holding power+home and then when it begins to restart i hold release power hold home but before 5 sec it returns to the usb+itunes logo plz help ive only had the phone for three days.

try dfu mod
hold power and home till it terns off
give it time ,then hold power and home for 5 sec then just keep holding home , ur pc will notice the iboot then restore in itunes

Its not working , although one time i wasd trying my pc started to go through the process when install new hardware through usb. but it said universal device istalled. Instead of the usual iphone found istallation. I don't know if am explaining properly but it looked like it was up to somthing maybe I didn;t undertstand the steps for entering dfu from recovery mode. plz help I feel like a retard for tying this in the firstplace. Ive hacked my psp that was a piece of cake but this just went all wrong.

sould itunes be on or off this whole time i tried it while itunes was running

dooooooooooooood just take it easy keep on trying, the worst thing will happen is staying in recovery mod
did u do the steps as they say in qpwn??
DFU Restore Mode:

1. Power phone OFF. 2. Hold power + home for 10 seconds. 3. Let go of power and continue to hold home until iTunes finds the phone.

my iphone is up and running now. the problem must of been with my laptop cause i used my desktop and it worked. I don't think ill be trying to jailbreak untill the current update pases and a new one comes out. I think it didn't work becuase i have the latest update and jailbreak uses the update file to create a custom firmware. correct me if im wrong i really want to eventually have my iphone jailbroken way to many limitations on official device a shame considering how powerfull it is. i may just pay someone.

NEVER disrespect the DFU mode. it is the core of jailbreaking and you cant do anything without it.
